Alex "Shunny" Roka, age 83, of Versailles, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  Born February 24, 1929 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Louis and Helen (Popp) Roka.  A retired tool and die maker at GM's Fisher Body Plant in West Mifflin and a former, part time Versailles police officer, Alex was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Christy Park, a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and also an avid sportsman and gardener.  He was also a life member of Versailles V.F.C.,  U.A.W. Local #544, American Legion #701 of White Oak,  National Rifle Association,  V.F.W., Turners,  William Penn Association and Eleventh Ward Welfare Association.  Alex joins his wife, the late Margaret (Derkas) Roka, who passed away January 18, 1992.  He is survived by his children, Alex J. "Lucky" Roka of McKeesport, Charles "Buzz" (Michelle) Roka of Versailles, John Roka of Versailles, Linda (James) Sheedy of Versailles, and Lisa (James) Fleckenstein of Versailles; his grandchildren: Jake and Jared Sheedy, Edward, Arjuna (Kari), Krsnadasa (Beth), Laksmi (Matt), Shiva (MaryAnn), Chai, Charlie, Michael, and Sarah Roka and Zar Fleckenstein; his great-grandchildren Alexandra Luniewski and Corey, Myah, Alana, Isabelle, and Narayana Roka.  Besides his wife and parents, Alex was preceded in death by his brother Louis Roka, his sister Helen Wash, and a grandson Zon Fleckenstein.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 11th in St. Patrick's Church at 10AM, with Fr. R. Donald Jones officiating.  Procession and burial will follow to Mt. Vernon Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Versailles VFC, 4919 3rd. St., McKeesport, PA 15132.
